En forskergruppe har kortlagt DNA’et fra en 1,2 mio. år gammel mammut. Og som Videnskab.dk beskriver, er det en ret stor sensation. Kortlægningen smadrer den hidtidige DNA-rekord, hvor arvemasse fra en mellem 560.000 og 780.000 år gammel hest blev undersøgt. Som om det ikke var nok, tyder analyserne tilmed på, at den oldgamle, sibiriske mammut tilhører en hidtil ukendt art. Vildt nok.
