When the far-right Jobbik party, accused by critics of anti-Semitism, shocked Europe four years ago by coming third in Hungary’s parliamentary election, many of its opponents predicted the party would soon implode. I 2019 skal europæerne til stemmeurnerne og vælge, hvem der skal have plads i Europa-Parlamentet. Men dette valg bliver markant anderledes end de tidligere. Den EU-skeptiske bevægelse har knækket kontinentet over i to fløje, og således bliver valget en kamp mellem de højrenationale på den ene side og de progressive på den anden side. Kampen er allerede i gang. Repræsentanter fra begge sider rejser lige nu rundt i Europa for at opfordre ligesindede til at danne fælles front.
